The last time we went to Latitude Festival was about three years ago. We had a great time – saw some amazing bands, and experienced our first taste of Alt-J before they won the Mercury Prize. Back then they played to a much smaller audience on the Lake Stage.
But this year being the 10th anniversary of the festival we really wanted to be there and to see them perform on a much bigger stage – and they really didn’t disappoint, from the amazing setup of the stage to the inevitable awesome sound that is, Alt-J.
We also wanted to see all the other great bands playing to mention a few, Portishead* who truly rocked the stage! – Santigold for us was the performance of the weekend; she was eclectic and powerful, La Roux – Pure Poptastic Joy, and one of my personal favourites were Femi Kuti & The Positive Force playing the best Afrobeat you could ask for, and Jason’s personal fave, SBTRKT (which he danced to throughout the gig!).
There were also surprise sets from Ed Sheeran and Thom York which was great added bonuses!
*Thom York also graced the Obelisk Stage to duet with Beth Gibbons (Portishead)
The British weather didn’t let us down either, it was also amazing! Hot and Sunny almost the entire time!
We have been to a few festivals but Latitude is our true love and we had such a fantastic time this year. We would definitely recommend Latitude to anyone from young people looking to have an awesome time, to families and older people looking to experience a bit of festival culture. It’s not just about the music! There is something for everyone, from literature, art, video, poetry, theatre and comedy combined with fantastic food (Check out Churros – Belgium pastries that are pretty tasty 😉 ) great atmosphere and a very friendly bunch of people!
So get your tickets booked and your tents ready and make sure you don’t miss out on Latitude next year!!
