I truly love chocolate and love to have it with foods that complement it. So, when I discovered this new spread called Macabella, I just felt I had to share this with you.
Oh, so what is Macabella?
It is a new chocolate and nut spread from Australia, made with Belgium chocolate and macadamia nuts and available from Sainsbury’s
It won Australia’s product of the year 2016 (spread category); also, has the highest content of nuts of any spread.
I love this product, with its “velvety” texture and divine taste.
You can use as an alternative to your regular spread on toast or croissants or even be adventurous like I did with my wickedly tasty french toast shown below.
Alvareen’s Macabella Brioche French Toast
The ingredients are:-
2 x eggs
Half a cup of milk
1 x teaspoon of cinnamon powder
1 x teaspoon of icing sugar
4 x thick slices of brioche
Macabella (velvet) macadamia chocolate spread
2 tablespoons butter (for frying)
Half a banana (sliced) and *Either a handful blueberries or strawberries
Whisk eggs, milk, cinnamon, icing sugar and vanilla together.
Then spread Macabella Velvet thickly onto on side of each slice, then sandwich the blueberries and bananas and soak in the egg mix.
On a medium heat, in a non-stick frying pan, add butter and a fry the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides.
Stack on a plate, garnish with blueberries*, bananas, and drizzle with Macabella (warmed up for pouring) and maple syrup, and finally a sprinkling of icing sugar.
This recipe is super sweet, and is best enjoyed as a treat for two to share.
